Third-generation Lebanese Chef Rachid Eido joins community leaders to celebrate Kareem’s debut at Rio Lakefront
GAITHERSBURG, Md., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Mediterranean and the Chesapeake are sharing a table in Gaithersburg. Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen officially celebrated its debut today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Rio Lakefront, bringing generations of Lebanese culinary tradition, family recipes, and hospitality to Montgomery County.
The new restaurant welcomes Gaithersburg diners to a menu inspired by the Eido family’s recipes, from handmade mezze and fresh-baked breads to Lamb Mouzat, Farrouj and Kareem’s signature hummus. Kareem’s also gives its Lebanese tradition a distinctly Maryland twist with an exclusive crab hummus made with Maryland crab.
The celebration brought together Chef Rachid Eido, Karim El-Hibri of East West Hospitality Group, the Kareem’s team, local leaders, and members of the community to officially welcome the restaurant to Gaithersburg.
“I’m proud to bring Kareem’s to Maryland and share the food, traditions and hospitality that have been part of my family for generations,” said Chef Rachid Eido. “Lebanese hospitality is about more than serving a meal. It is about opening your table, sharing generously and making people feel like they belong. That is what we want every guest to experience when they come to Kareem’s.”
At the center of Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen is Chef Rachid, a third-generation Lebanese chef whose culinary career has included work at the Four Seasons in Washington, D.C., and throughout the Washington region before helping bring Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen to Naples, Florida, in 2018.
The restaurant’s name reflects one of the values at the heart of the experience. Kareem means “generous” in Arabic, a fitting reflection of Lebanese hospitality and the tradition of welcoming people around the table.
That spirit of generosity is reflected throughout the Kareem’s experience, from the way guests are welcomed to the care behind each dish. Kareem’s signature hummus, for example, is prepared over three days using traditional methods, along with variations such as beet and harissa hummus.
Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen is now open at 212 Boardwalk Place at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg and joins Montgomery County’s growing dining scene and brings a distinctive Lebanese dining experience to the area’s diverse collection of international cuisines.
