Although the announced review of Cuba policy has not been completed, the company Cuba International Network (CIN), specialized in television and audiovisual production services, has received a license to operate on the island and establish contracts with a Cuban state company.
The license from the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) allows CIN to establish contractual relationships with the state-owned Empresa Comercializadora de la Radio y la Television (RTV), and authorizes all transactions to offer U.S. and international clients the possibility of renting recording equipment and hiring trained local personnel.
“As broadcasters, we have been looking closely at the changes that are happening with regard to Cuba and whether there is going to be a market, and many of the companies we work with want to go to Cuba to produce content,” Barry H. Pasternak, founder and CEO of CIN, told el Nuevo Herald. The company currently offers “from the possibility of filming a commercial with a camera to producing any type of event” thanks to the collaboration with large production companies such as Gearhouse Broadcast and PRG.
