Statement by Lanny J. Davis, Attorney for Ainet Corp and Deepak Jain
WASHINGTON, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Lanny J. Davis, attorney for Ainet and Depak Jain, issued the following statement in response to the SEC – DOJ press release. FIRST, this was contract that the SEC described as a data security contract and the SEC cannot deny – nor can the Justice Department – that NO DATA WAS LOST DURING THE CONTRACT.
SECOND: the SEC insisted on inspecting the facility itself before the contract was awarded, it did, and it still awarded the contract – and then renewed the contract each year for six years after being on site all the time.
THIRD: The SEC was planning to extend the contract — but only after the SEC’s own Inspector General published a report on this contract describing the SEC as “incompetent” in its administration of the contract did the SEC go to the Justice Department to seek to criminalize a contract dispute in the middle of litigation.
It is my understanding every administration opposes “weaponizing” the Justice Department.
If this is not an example of retaliation and weaponization by an embarrassed SEC, I do not know what is.
