The wife of Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the 2016 Pulse nightclub attack, which left 49 people dead and dozens injured.
Noor Salman, who was arrested in January 2017, faces charges of aiding and abetting her husband’s attack and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors allege that she had prior knowledge of her husband’s plan and did nothing to stop it. However, her defense team maintains that she was unaware of Mateen’s intentions and should not be held responsible for his actions.
Salman entered her not guilty plea in a federal court and remains in custody as she awaits trial. The case has sparked debates about domestic terrorism, law enforcement accountability, and civil liberties in high-profile criminal cases.
Authorities continue to investigate the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history before the 2017 Las Vegas attack, while survivors and victims’ families seek justice and healing.
